In the first Winter break cup week close results were scarce. In the Handicap Cup Tennis A overcame their club’s A team 7-5 with Paul Myers and Paul Jarvis each winning twice for the A team. Dave Lewis won all his singles for the H team. Both of the other matches played to date were won by a margin of seven, Central A against Tennis J and Crawley Ridge D against Frimley F. For Central A both Phil Snelson and Paul Baker won all their singles and Eric Wong and Yeuk Wan matched that for Crawley Ridge D in their match.
In the First Division Cup, Central B in the form of Andy Appleby, Martin Townshend and Trevor Spraggs whitewashed Ash B. Central A beat Bentley A 5-2 with Paul Baker and Phil Snelson equally successful in this competition.
In the Second Division Cup Ash D beat Cody X 6-3 with all the Ash team, Andy Clegg, Brian Smithers and Paul Creamer winning twice. They all lost to Cody’s Kin Chan. Ash C beat Braybrooke A 7-1 with Frank Winnard securing a full, Nigel Tustin winning the two games he played and Jo Bartlett bagging a brace.
In the Third Division Tennis F, Andy Barnard, Peter Killick and Graham McCulley whitewashed Crawley Ridge B and Tennis G beat the sole Frimley D player, Brian Greenberg, who managed to win two games losing to John Sheehy
In the Fourth Division Ash G beat Cody D 6-3 with janet Guess, Sheila Pretty and Bob Murrell all bagging braces for Ash whilst Nigel Wilshire won a couple for Cody. Braybrooke B beat Fleet C 7-2 with Kenny Duarte unbeaten and Alan Burkey and Sandra Jackson each winning a couple. Both lost to Fleet’s James Maxwell.
