There was a possible division deciding match in the Fourth Division when the two teams with a 100% record, Crawley ridge C and Tennis H met with Crawley Ridge easily winning 8-2. Mark Stephenson and Yuriy Schulzhenko both secured maximums for Crawley Ridge. Cody E remain unbeaten after a 9-1 victory over two-man Tennis J. Dave Hewitt and John Asprey both won their two singles. Frimley F overcame their E team 7-3 but with Ted Cornell, Gary Smith and Steve Lawlor winning twice none of them could get the better of the E team’s Ramesh Vasudevamurthy. Fleet C beat Ash F with Alan Yeung unbeaten for Fleet. Roger Fletcher and Graham Thomas each won twice for Ash.
In the First Division Tennis A edged towards the top of the table after a 9-1 mauling of Frimley A. Eliot Tilley and Rod Kay both returned maximums whilst Paul Myers supported with a duo. Tennis C secured their first points of the season in a 7-3 defeat against Fleet A. Fallon Thompson, Lawrence Dack and David Joyce each won twice for Fleet this being matched by Tennis’ Shaun Newbold. Tennis B beat Ash B 8-2 with both Paul Shakespeare and Michael Kwan undefeated.
Cody A moved to the top of the Second Division with a 7-3 victory over Bentley B. Keith Russell won all three for Cody with Peter Anthony and Phil Russell supporting with duos both losing to Bentley’s Robin Street. Cody B beat Ash C 6-4 although the star of the night was Ash’s Frank Winnard with a maximum. All the Cody players, Dave Stenning, Duncan Sibbick and Paul Mission won twice. Braybrooke A eased past Tennis E 6-4 but again it was a member of the losing team, Peter Bone, who ended up undefeated. Both Mark Armstrong and Tony Gabriel won twice for Braybrooke. In a week of tight results Tennis D lost to Old Woking 6-4. Steve Cheek was unbeaten for Old Woking with team-mate Frank Roberts winning twice as did Tennis’ Stuart Middlemiss.
In the Third Division there was a keenly contested match between Ash E and D with the E team coming out on top thanks to a full house for the E team’s Terry French. Amy Parkes won twice in a match in which every player won at least once. Crawley Ridge B still lead the way after an 8-2 success over Tennis F. Phil Garrett secured a maximum with team-mates Stephen Bridle and David Marchant assisting with pairs. Crawley Ridge A and Frimley D shared the points with Crawley Ridge’s Russell Gibbs unbeaten. He was supported by team-mate Corin Moore who bagged a brace as did Frimley’s Ted Cornell. Tennis G maintained their 100% record with a 6-4 success over Cody D. Peter Bone emerged with a triple for Tennis whilst Mehrdad Abutalebi supported with a duo. John Sheehy won twice for Cody.
