The Quarter-Finals of the Handicap Cup have been completed with a couple of intriguing results. Principally Frimley B managed to overcome the non-attendance of one player and win the remaining seven games to win 7-5 against Ash B. Congratulations to Brian Greenberg and Quang Le for an outstanding result. In a normal three against three contest Ash H just got the better of Central A 6.5 to 5.5. Central started well with Phil Snelson beating Brian Lunn and Andy Appleby proving too good for Ben Carr. Darren Milstead got Ash on the board with a comfortable win over Dennis Perrett. Then Ash won the first of the doubles to level the match. The next batch of singles were all won by Central so they stood 5-2 up at this stage. Another, narrow, doubles success for Ash and then wins for Milstead over Appleby and Lunn over Perrett squared the match. The remaining singles between Snelson and Carr was then halved but, yet again, Ash won the doubles to take the match by lowest possible margin. Frimley D proved too strong for their fellow Division three rivals Ash E winning 8-4. The star player for Frimley was Anthony Connelly who was unbeaten and he also appeared in two winning doubles combinations. Broadmoor B beat Tennis D 7.5 to 4.5 with all players winning but, crucially, Robert Hawes, for Broadmoor, won all his singles and one of the doubles.

The final quarter-final in the Division One Cup was played with Central A dispatching Ash B 7-2. Phil Snelson was unbeaten with Ramesh Bhalla and Dennis Perrett supporting with pairs. Both lost to Ash’s Nick Lynch.

In the Third Division Cup Tennis F easily secured a place in the final with an 8-1 success over Crawley Ridge A. Peter Killick and Darren Brown were both undefeated with Paul Jarvis supporting with couple.

In the Fourth Division Cup semi-final Tennis H eased past Fleet B 5-4. Rob Brook won all his three for Fleet with John Page and Graham Dorey each winning twice for Tennis.

A couple of Second Division league matches took place, both involving losses for Broadmoor B. Tennis D won 8-2 with Michael Kwan and Dave Jarvis each recording trios and Dave Hewitt winning twice. Broadmoor A beat their B team 7-3. Tony Gabriel picked up a maximum for the A team with team-mates Keith Jones and Pu Zhang each winning twice but both lost to the B team’s Robert Hawes.

In the Fourth Division Cody F and Ash K shared the points with Ash’s Stuart Wickham unbeaten and Norrie Short and Nigel Willshire each winning twice for Cody. Frimley E eased past Broadmoor C 6-4 but it was Broadmoor’s Gabriel Ailiaoe who was unbeaten. Stephen Bridle and James Maxwell each won twice for Frimley.
