Table Tennis by Paul Myers With a few games remaining in the Aldershot and District Table Tennis League the battle for First Division survival is hotting up. Two points cover Tennis A, Ash C, Frimley A and Bentley A with the last mentioned having a game in hand. Central B soon to be crowned Division One Champions didn't help Tennis A's survival cause by beating them 9-1 with Graham Watts and Paul Myers both grabbing trebles. Central A in second also helped put a few nails in Frimley A's coffin slamming them 9-1 with Norman Swift and Paul Massey both unbeaten. Central C beat Challoner and Ash B both 7-3 with Robin Pretty their main man winning six out of six. These two wins have moved Central C up to third place and it looks like it could be a clean sweep in Division One for the Farnham Central club this season. In Division Three Cody C look to have dragged themselves out of the relegation zone with a couple of positive results against bottom team Ash H (7-3) and Tennis G (6-4). Dave Thomas was in superb form for Cody in both matches winning six out of six. The shock result was Tennis G beating Division Three leaders Tennis F 6-4. Gordon Courtney and Keith Johnson both bagged braces for Tennis G and must be pleased by winning this local derby especially as their club rivals look like lifting the Division Three title this season. Ash H are fighting hard even though it looks like mission impossible for them now this season as they drew with Kingfisher B in which Geoff Green won all three and Dave Brown two for Ash. Tennis B are in a strong position for promotion to Division One now after beating Cody B 8-2 and Tennis D 9-1. George Earle was in hat-trick form against Cody B whilst Jack Davies(5 out of 6) and Dave Hewitt(5 out of 6) were the other main points scorers for Tennis B. Cody A beat Tennis C 6-4 to put them seven points behind Tennis B with three games in hand and in a strong position to win the Division Two title. Other notable performances were Kin Chans treble for Cody B in their 7-3 loss to Tennis E and Dave Joyce's hat-trick for Fleet CC A against Bourne A in his teams 7-3 win. Dave Jarvis has been playing well for Tennis C all season and once again bagged a couple of hat-tricks against Ash E and Tennis D. In Division Four Cody D need a few more points to confirm them as the Champions. They beat Frimley D 8-2 with John Asprey and Phil Russell grabbing trebles but then lost 6-4 to Tennis H for whom Paul Shakespeare won all three. Tennis H beat Kingfisher C 8-2 which takes them into second place in the table and fighting for the other promotion slot with Ash K who beat Bentley B 6-4 with Dave Phillips winning all three. Fleet CC B beat Cody E 6-4 to maintain their mid-division status with Mark Holbrook winning all three and Marge Massey two. Fleet CC C beat Frimley E 6-4 but the star on the night was Stephen Bridle grabbing a treble for Frimley. You always know that there will be a competitive match when both Fleet CC B and Fleet CC C play and it was no different in their second half clash. After a stalemate in the first half Fleet CC B were in great form this time around with Mark Holbrook showing his class with an excellent treble and was ably assisted by Marge Massey (2) and Andy Blunden (2). Fleet CC B put the success down to their unpaid manager Leo Race.
