A the top of the 1st Division in the Aldershot & District Table Tennis League Central A charged back into title contention with a big 9-1 win over Ash B, Dave Halfpenny claimed the solitary success for Ash, Mr Halfpenny was a busy boy as he stood in for the A team and showed up his team mates with the only hat trick in an 8-2 victory over Frimley A, for whom Clive Asprey was in fine retrieving form winning both. Clive Banham was unbeaten for Broadmoor A who beat a depleted Cody A 7-3. There was a close affair played out at Farnborough Tennis, Rod Kay and Eliot Tilley for the A team and Paul Myers for the B all won two apiece but it was the A team who got the win 6-4.
Ash D got the better of their E team in Division 3, Nick Lynch and Chris Dury each sported fine hat tricks in a 9-1 romp. A doubles victory was all Ash F had to boast about as three’s from Peter Glass, John Eades and Robeen Roopun meant a 9-1 defeat to Frimley C. Anthony Connelly came back from two ends down in the final match of the night to beat Geoff Green, cap his night off with a full house and claim a five all draw for Frimley D against Crawley Ridge A. Also on triple form were Tennis G’s Ray Eason and Roy Pike who saw off the challenge of their F team 6-4. Two’s all round for the Fleet CC B trio of Fox, Bartlett and Blunden added to a doubles win and a walkover meant an 8-2 win at Tennis H, another side sharing the wins out were Ash G, young guns Hudson Foley and Ben Fereday, and the League’s hirsute all seeing eye Dave Brown won two a piece but were unable to master the wiles of Michael Fox, who’s three meant respectability but ultimately defeat, 6-4, for Frimley E.
Elsewhere there were wins in Division 2 for Tennis D, Frimley B, Ash D and Frimley C and in Division 4 for Ash K, Cody D and Fleet CC D.
