In Division 4 of the Aldershot & District Table Tennis League Stephen Bridle picked up a good trio of wins against Frimley F, Ash J eventually running out 6-4 winners. Mick Strode was holding back the years with a hat trick of his own for Cody E as they powered past Crawley Ridge B 8-2 and elsewhere Cody D were thwarted by Ash K’s Sam Wan who racked up all three to see Ash to a creditable five all draw.
In Division 1 serial giant killer Simon Turner pulled off an excellent win over Graham Watts in four, alas his Tennis B went down 8-2 to new leaders Ash A. Robin Pretty and Dave Phelps both claimed hat tricks for Central B in a 7-3 victory over Tennis A. Still with a game in hand and unbeaten Bentley A just edged home 6-4 against Central A, Andy Mudie’s obligatory three was the difference while Clive Banham continued his good form, a hat trick was the foundation of a 7-3 win over Frimley A for Broadmoor A.
Dario Cereda was on fire for Cody B in Division 2, his three set up a comfortable 8-2 win over Fleet CC A. Broadmoor B were handed a sound thrashing at the hands of Tennis D, Neil Print, Colin Baggot and Rod Kay slayed their way to a 10-0 score. Also on treble form was Ash C’s Frank Winnard, leading his troops to a straightforward 8-2 win over Bentley B. Tennis E and Cody C were witness to a battle royale between Andrew Murdock (1) and Andy Stenning (1), the former finally triumphing 18-16 in the fifth end to set Tennis up for a 6-4 win, Peter Killick’s three for the victors, invaluable.
Two F teams met in Division 3 and it was no competition as Tennis swept Ash aside 10-0, Ian Brown, Ron Wale and George Carder unstoppable. Frimley C eased past their E team 8-2, Robeen Roopun winning his three, however Rob Marles won a good two in the face of adversity. Ben Fereday, with a quality triple, was the man of the match as his Ash G were beaten 7-3 by their D team, a couple of tight fifth setters swung it for the higher ranking Ash-ites. Also bagging a hat trick was Fleet CC B’s Andy Appleby, he couldn’t however inspire his team mates to match him as they were held to a 5-5 draw by Tennis G.
