Tennis H built up a 19 point lead in Division 4 of the Aldershot & District Table Tennis League with a comfortable 8-2 win against Frimley F, Graham Dorey picked up a full house while John Davis and Keith Johnson both weighed in with a couple each. Ash J stay a massive 31 points clear of Cody E in second after the pair drew 5-5, Mick Strode did his best for Cody but his three couldn’t cut the gap. A trip to bottom club Fleet CC D saw Ash J get back to winning ways with a 7-3 victory, consistent trio Terry Kavanagh, Bob Powney and Ray Mears all won two. Rapidly improving Ash H battled hard in going down 6-4 to a busy Fleet CC D, Graham Cole won a good three for the bottom side. Ash G stay in second bottom spot, after an 8-2 loss at fifth place Frimley E, Stephen Bridle on top form for the victors with a hat trick. Fleet CC C and Ash K met in a mid table clash and it was Fleet that battled to a 6-4 win, Rob Brook and Roy Chittenden each won two but Ash’s Dave Phillips was unbeaten on the night.
Top two Tennis E and Cody C met in Division 3 and it was Tennis who claimed a tense 6-4 win in the title race taking them twelve points clear but, maybe vitally, Cody have played just 18 to Tennis’ 20. Ash D stay in the promotion hunt after recording a tight 6-4 result over rivals Frimley D, Terry French did the business when required for Ash winning his three.Geoff Green and Ken Thompson were both on triple form as Crawley Ridge A beat third bottom Ash F 8-2. Bottom outfit Cody D slumped to an 8-2 reverse at home to Fleet CC B, for whom Jeremy Fox was unbeaten, leaving them odds on for a drop down to the fourth division next season. Broadmoor C and Tennis G have nothing to play for sitting safely in mid table as they are, however they played out a close one with all matches going at least to four ends, Pu Zhang eventually won all three as his Broadmoor edged it 6-4.
