A bit of a mish mash of results as I printed all Dave’s emails off, dropped them on the floor and couldn’t remember what order they were in. However I’ll try and put them together starting with Division Four…

Division 4 of the Aldershot & District Table Tennis league and solidarity was the name of the game for Fleet CC B’s Jeremy Fox, Marge Massey and Andy Blunden as they matched each other with two wins apiece in a 6-4 victory at Ash H, for whom Dave Phillips chalked up an impressive hat trick in vain.
Roy Chittenden saved the day for Fleet CC C with an excellent three that brought his team a five all draw with Frimley F. Kevin Bissell (2) and Sash Shagauchi (2) won the last two games to snatch a share of the spoils. Ash G stuffed a two man Farnham Cohesion B 9-1, George Carder and Terry Kavanagh unbeaten. John Hutchinson won all his matches in the fifth, but these heroics were to no avail as his Ash K team mates couldn’t muster another win in a 7-3 loss to Cody F. A good team effort saw Tennis J edge past Cody E 6-4, Mike Bly, John Page and Keith Johnson all weighing in with two wins.

Bentley A march on atop Division 1 led by the as yet unbeatable Andy Mudie, he didn’t lose an end whilst waltzing to all three against Central B. It was quite an eventful night for Dave Phelps as he picked up Central’s only win, over Crispian Knight, and was involved in the game of the evening going down 12-10 in the fifth to Steve French. Phil Snelson battled to a maximum in vain as his Central A were conquered 6-4 by Broadmoor A who stayed hot on the heels of Bentley at the top. The clincher was Barry Morton (2) fighting back from two down to beat an unlucky Paul Massey in five. A strong win for Tennis B, 8-2 over Ash B, was built on impressive three’s from Keith Winter and Kevin Bown. Nick Mills and Dave Gilham both recorded good wins over Steve French for Ash B, but it didn’t get any better than that as Micky Lang and Andy Mudie chalked up three each as Bentley A strolled it, again, 8-2. Martin Townshend with a full house and his glamorous assistants Scott Ayers and Tony Amies who snapped up two each, dealt Tennis A a 7-3 blow. John Taylor carded a pair in an all round good game.

Bentley B showed the rest of Division 3 they mean business as Andy Cunningham, Bob Walker and Eric North thumped Cody C 10-0. Dave Bentall (3) was well backed up by Terry French (2) as Ash E eased to a 7-3 triumph over Cody D. Sandy Simpson and Clive Mattin both recorded good three’s in a tight 6-4 win for Ash F at Frimley E.
Two from Ian Brown wasn’t enough to put the fear in Tennis F as they ran out 7-3 winners over their G team. Colin Baggott, Eliot Tilley and Bob Brown symmetrically won two each to share the plaudits. The only tight match of the evening was won by Gordon Courtney (3), his 16-14 win in the clincher over Tony Harrison saw Tennis H on the way to a 9-1 stroll over Frimley C. Bob Brown also racked up a maximum for Tennis.

Ash D had Nigel Tustin to thank in holding Tennis E to a five all draw in Division 2. His three wins kept Peter Killick (2) and his troops at bay. Ash C marched on with a 7-3 beating of Fleet CC A, Lawrence Dack (2) however won the tightest match of the night for the losing side, after dropping the fourth agonisingly 19-17 he valiantly fought back to overhaul Mike Levey (2) 11-9 in the final end.
