Andy Cunningham and Bob  Walker both waltzed to easy three’s as Bentley B completed a resounding 9-1 victory at Frimley C in Division 3 of the Aldershot & District Table Tennis League. This was the only cake walk in a tight week of results, Frimley D the only other team managing a victory. Robeen Roopun’s hat trick saw them edge through 6-4 against Tennis G. Nick Green picked up three hard fought wins as Farnham Cohesion A drew five all with Tennis H, a scoreline mirrored at Frimley E. Four fifth end victories for Cody D saw them battle to a draw, but it was David Mackinnon’s three for Frimley that kept the equilibrium. Ash F and Cody C also shared the spoils, Dave Hewitt and Tony McDowell bagged two’s for Cody but neither could get the better of Clive Mattin who won all three for Ash. Eliot Tilley was unbeaten once again, this time against a tough Ash E, but his swashbuckling trio only earned his Tennis F side a five all draw.

Trio’s for Chris Carter and Ron Bartlett saw Fleet CC B cruise home 7-3 at Ash G in Division 4. Jeremy Fox was somewhat unlucky not to equal their maximums, losing two of his singles in the final end. Bob Fenner claimed three wins and Norrie Short two as Cody E beat Fleet CC C 7-3, Bob Brook picked up a couple for Fleet, only losing out 11-8 in the fifth to Fenner. John Saville raced through his three matches not dropping an end to Ash K as his Farnham Cohesion B coasted to an 8-2 win. Dave Phillips was the only Ash H’er to trouble the scorers, notching up an impressive hat trick away to Tennis J for whom Graham Dorey, John Davis and Keith Johnson all won two each on the way to a 7-3 triumph.

Just the three results in Division 2 this week, the most impressive being Ash D’s 7-3 win over Old Woking, Frank Winnard doing the damage for Ash with a comfortable three. Hilary Greig was the star with a hat trick that saw Frimley B home 6-4 at Tennis E. The strangest result of the night though saw Graham McCulley, on his way to a double for Tennis, scramble to a fifth end against John Wheeler then breeze home eleven love! Well done Graham!.Lawrence Dack and Sameer Pathak both returned to form with three apiece as their Fleet CC A inflicted a 7-3 defeat on Tennis D for whom Paul Shakespeare (1) beat Dave Joyce (1) in a nail biter 13-11 in the fifth.

Broadmoor A kept up their title charge in Division 1 with a hard fought 7-3 win over Tennis B, Keith Winter claimed the hard to remove scalp of Clive Banham, comfortably winning three straight, but Clive won his other two as did team mates Barry Morton and John Millward. Dave Phelps showed he’s on his way back to form with a tough maximum for Central B against Tennis A, but duo’s for Simon Turner and John Taylor saw Tennis battle back for a five all draw. Five apiece was the order of the day also as Ash B shared the spoils with Frimley A, Mike Levey stepping up from the D team was the star man winning all three for Ash. Another two teams who couldn’t be split were Central A and Ash A, Central’s Phil Snelson was the difference once again, claiming a hat trick including a five set victory over previously unbeaten Graham Watts.
